San Miguel de Allende, which was established in the sixteenth century, is renowned for its colonial elegance and modern conveniences. The mid-sized town's vibrant nightlife and variety of great dining establishments give it a cosmopolitan feel. The town's main square is a time capsule of cobblestone lanes surrounded by pink stone La Parroqua, a massive neo-gothic church, and bordered with colonial buildings in jewel tones. Hot springs, high desert climbs, and the Jesuit Sanctuary of Atoltonilcofamous for its extravagant Mexican Baroque interior and frescoes of angels and demonsare all possible day adventures from here.
