Introduction
There is now good news for travellers planning to visit the Philippines from India. The Philippines government has implemented two new visa-free entry categories for Indian citizens. This has been confirmed by the Embassy of India in the Philippines, and the move is considered to be a significant effort towards promoting tourism. Now more tourists from India will be able to easily enjoy the beaches and natural sights of this beautiful archipelago as the Philippines is visa-free for Indians.
Category 1- 14 days visa-free entry
From May 2025, Indian passport holders can now stay in the Philippines for up to 14 days without a visa for tourism purposes. This facility is available at all major airports, seaports and cruise terminals. However, this visa category can neither be extended nor converted to any other visa. Here are the eligibility criteria:
• The purpose of the visit should be tourism only.
• The passport should be valid for at least 6 months and beyond.
• Proof of stay (such as hotel booking), return or onward travel ticket is mandatory.
• Proof of sufficient financial resources such as bank statements or job certificates.
• Must not have any negative immigration history in the Philippines.
Category 2- 30 Days Visa-Free Entry
If you have a valid visa or permanent residence (PR) in Australia, Japan, the US, Canada, the Schengen Area, Singapore or the United Kingdom, you can stay in the Philippines for up to 30 days without a visa. This category is being called the AJACSSUK Visa Facility. The conditions are as follows:
• You must have a valid visa or PR from any of the above countries.
• Passport validity must be at least 6 months.
• A return or onward travel ticket is required.
• Must not have any immigration violations in the Philippines before.
• This category is also for tourism only and cannot be extended.
E-Visa Option Still Available
Indian travellers who do not fall under these two visa-free categories can still obtain an e-Visa through the 9(a) Temporary Visitor Visa. This visa can be obtained from the Philippines' official e-Visa portal and allows one-time entry for 30 days. Here is the list of required documents:
• Valid passport
• Government ID and passport-size photo
• Proof of stay
• Return or onward journey ticket
• Proof of affordability such as a bank statement
