Albania to Thailand

Albanian passport holders can enter Thailand without a visa for up to 60 days per visit under Thailand's expanded visa exemption program, which has covered Albania since July 2024. The 60-day allowance was made permanent by the Thai Cabinet resolution in 2025 and is now a fully established policy as of 2026. No prior application or embassy appointment is needed—entry is granted on arrival via an immigration stamp. Stays for purposes beyond tourism, or longer than the permitted period, require
Key Details for Visa-Free Entry

Stay Duration

Each visit allows up to 60 days, granted as an arrival stamp at the immigration counter. This can be extended once by up to 30 days at any Thai Immigration Office inside the country, bringing the total possible stay to 90 days per entry. The extension fee is 1,900 THB and is subject to the immigration officer's discretion. Land border crossings generally receive the same 60-day allowance, though officers at land checkpoints retain greater individual discretion than those at international airports.

Passport Requirements

Your Albanian ordinary passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of arrival in Thailand— and it must have at least one blank page available for the entry stamp.

Permitted Purposes

The exemption covers tourism, short-term visits—and brief business engagements. It does not cover paid employment, long-term study, or residence. Using a tourist entry for work is a violation of Thai immigration law.

Entry Points

The visa exemption is valid at all 22 of Thailand's international airports—including Suvarnabhumi (Bangkok), Don Mueang, Phuket, and Chiang Mai—as well as at selected land border crossings and major seaports. Not every land border operates under the same procedures, so checking the official Thai Immigration Bureau website before a land crossing is advisable.

Required Documentation for Entry

No visa is needed in advance - but Thai immigration officers may ask to see the following at the border:

Proof of Onward Travel

A confirmed return flight or onward ticket showing departure from Thailand within the 60-day window. Open-ended or one-way bookings, or travel to a neighboring country, may not satisfy this requirement and can result in questioning or refusal of entry.

Proof of Accommodation

A hotel booking confirmation, Airbnb reservation, or the address of the place you will be staying throughout your visit.

Proof of Funds

Evidence that you can financially support yourself during the trip—at least 10,000 THB per solo traveler or 20,000 THB per family. Bank statements, cash, or a credit card showing available balance are all accepted

Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC)

Starting May 2025, all incoming travelers must complete the Thailand Digital Arrival Card at least 3 days before arrival. This replaces the old paper TM6 form. The TDAC is submitted through Thailand's official immigration portal—travelers should use only the government website, as fraudulent third-party sites exist. A QR code is provided upon completion and should be kept accessible at the border.

Important Limitations

Work & Study

The visa exemption does not authorize any form of paid work in Thailand. Albanians wishing to work must obtain a Non-Immigrant B visa and a valid work permit before beginning employment. A long-term study requires a Non-Immigrant ED visa. Both must be arranged through the Thai Embassy or the official e-visa portal before traveling.

Overstaying

Overstaying the permitted period — whether the initial 60 days or any approved extension — carries a fine of 500 THB per day, up to a maximum of 20,000 THB. Beyond the fine, overstayers risk detention, deportation & being placed on a blacklist that bars future entry to Thailand. Even a single day over the limit is recorded and enforced.

Visa Run Restrictions

Since Nov. 2025, Thai Immigration officers have had the authority to deny entry to individuals who have made repeated back-to-back visa-exempt entries without a clear reason, particularly at land borders. The exemption is designed for genuine tourists, not long-term residents. Travelers with a pattern of frequent consecutive entries may face additional questioning or shorter stamps at the officer's discretion.

Extension Limits

Extensions are capped at two per calendar year—a first extension of 30 days and a second of 7 days. Land border entries cannot be extended at all; the 30-day extension option applies only to those who entered via air.

Multiple Entries

There is no formal restriction on the number of times you can enter Thailand per year under the visa exemption— but repeat entries without a clear gap or reason can raise immigration concerns under the new enforcement rules introduced in late 2025.
